Default powder instead of smoke?

Anybody done or seen this?...placing some sorta small box/container of baby powder to open during flight for a smoke trail?
Just something I was pondering the other day since our stuff is too small to make smoke, or would it just make a mess of the plane...Rog

I suspect the baby powder would be too thin to see or the duration so short it wouldn't be worth it. The powder and caster oil would be interesting to wipe off though. I've heard about smoke bombs and stuff. Again too fleeting to be worth while. It would also be dead weight since you have to keep the spent cartrige on board till it lands per AMA rules about pyrotechnice stuff.

The only thing I can remember about baby powder and moel airplanes is as filler in exploding bombs - like those sold by Vortac (I think) and mixed with dope for a filler.

But if you will keep this just between you and I - one of the secrets I use to make my reedie engines run so well is to add baby powder to my fuel during breakin. Makes things smoother - just like on baby's bottom. Hey, have I ever lied to you before? OK, OK, but you can trust me this time - probably.

Fox used to sell a magic potion called LUSTROX to add to your fuel during breakin.
If you want a 1/2A vapor trail, get a piped GZ and run it on 33% castor.

Do you mean charcoal snakes? The link is right above the picture.

Here are some other things that might work.

That's it, the old charcoal snakes. When I was a kid, 1000 fiyaclackies [a brick] cost $10. They were more the size of a cigarette and just one could blow a finger off!
