O man, I was just watching a popular tv show here in the US about little people, the dad had a old VW bug, looked like a early 60's, now I've had 3 bugs in my life time, I just mentioned that I missed my 72 super beetle, and she just had to comment on how pissed she was that I sold my 74 Karmann Ghia, now we talked about it for a while and the common ground is sell the cherokee and get something that has that same moment of class and one of a kind design. Now, I like having heat, so a VW is a far stretch, but looking at all the options, I'd love to have a auston healy 3000 GT, but let's face it, I don't have 25-30k layiong around. Scale it back a bit, porsche 912,spitfire,tr-6,ghia,914? Hmmmm, let's decide, what will replace the daily driver on the weekends? I would stuff a buick 318 in a 914 or an mg or triumph, but the austonhealy, no way.

O here you go, 42,000 original miles, paint and interior,.....engine, lets just say I got a speeding ticket on the mass pike and the cop reduced it by 30 mph because he liked the car, and I was only at 5,500 rpm, still had another 1500 till the webers flattened out and it stopped pushing. The ticket was for 79 in a 65.

Here's an idea how small and low the car is, my girl and I going to work on the sailboat( I gave away) a month after her knee surgery, she's 5'7" and pretty much sitting 14" from the ground, on the seat, the roof is only 4'6" or so from the ground.

One of my big burly friends just got a 79 bug, I laughed at him, I told him that we live in new england and there is this new invention called heat, in automobiles, then in about 10 minutes, I picked out every problem in the bug he bought, some major, some minor, but now I find that I've been fixing it for him little by little. I'd rather sink money into a real classic than a bug.

I also pulled up some of the other cars I've had and showed my girl what I've sold off over the years, you know, buy a car, fix it and get bored, sell it buy the next best thing repeat. Porsche 914, spitfire MKI, Ghia, Bug eye sprite. I've had a few nice cars that I should have held onto, but for some reason, just like the planes, I get bored with them and sell them off for no reason. basically do all the work, make them shine and use it a few times then let someone else enjoy it.

I guess so, you must be nuts to be flying one of those in the war, they were nimble and fast but no armor and you were told to die fighting. So I guess I'm just smart enough to climb in the cockpit and fly it.

Some time this week, when ever the paint decides to be nice and let me finish the V.S. off. I still need to order servos, never made it to the hobby shop, my pet rock(apprentice) followed me to the "T" all the way for 75 miles from the office, I even stopped in at home to grab some stuff and he followed me to my door step, I'm not joking when I have to tell him to do every little step.

I think someone did an experiment with toner, he wet the balsa with acetone and pressed the paper onto the wood, the toner transfers to the wood perfectly, if it wasn't acetone then it was laquer thinner. You have to give it a sample of times, try it for 5 seconds, 10 seconds, and so and so on, if it does work, then your good to go, I just print off templates and spray adheasive them to the wood and trim them out, the printer will always make the same size everytime. I guess the transfer method would eliminate glue and give the plane the sig craftsman series feel, cut the printed lines out building.

the toner works by heating up so i wonder if applying heat via a iron to the templates it may just transfere

I think you've figured it out, iron it on the wood like a transfer, yeah, that's the method, see, years go by, but you mention heat and it all came back, he used a covering iron and it transfered perfectly. See, your smarter than you look.
