Back to flying and building.
I haven't been doing much in the hobby for the past couple of years because of kids and work etc. Fortunately, it looks like I'll be able to get back to flying and building again this year. Even my wife renewed her insurance and we went out flying together today. I just wanted to check in with the 1/2A gang and see who's still around. I look forward to reading and posting in the old forum again.

Hey Andrew, I've been hobbled with too much work too. Sometimes the correct ratio of work to play gets thrown off course. There's been some interesting stuff going on here in 1/2A Land, but then on the other hand about 1/5th of the message traffic here is still about those GD substandard, standard plug adapters.

Bipe Flyer,
Glad to see your back! I was knocked off the building scene until recently. My daughter just turned 3 in Feb. Them babies take up some time! We are expecting our second this June. So I have deicided to take another shot at scratch building the Schweizer Glider. I don't know how much building I will get done once the new baby arrives.[]

My daughter just turned 6 and my son just turned 3. She wants to learn to fly and he's old enough to take to the field now, so it should be a good year.

RE: Back to flying and building.
Hey Andrew, good to see you back and posting.
My grand daughter just turned 8. Of the two kids and three grand kids she is the only one that has shown more than passing interest in the hobby. She has been out to the school yard and flown some rubber powered stuff and some chuck gliders and has been to a couple of our local indoor RC winter flying sessions. Maybe it will stick, maybe it won't but in any case she has learned something for having had a go.
Any Laumer designs on the building board?
cheers, Graham in Ottawa, Canada

Isn't it great to be able to share the hobby with a little one, even if it's just a bit? Both children love paper plans and ask me to make them all the time. My daughter flew an RC dragonfly ornithopter today and though it was great.
Yes, I plan to build at least 1 Laumer design this year, but my next project is a new plane for my wife (see attached images).

I've had those two pics stored away since you first posted them. I've always thought the lines were great and still have aspirations for getting one together sometimes.

RE: Back to flying and building.
It's good to make time for play with all that work everybody seems to be doing. Funny, the government says nobody has a job.......
I integrate my job with my hobby. When I came out to CA I brought 2 planes with me, but I'll be coming home with 3 (stupid hobby shop had a sale). My goal is to fly in every state I drive through on my way back to the east coast.
In any case, it's good to see you Bipe!

Bipe Flyer;
Glad you are back in the forums, I had missed your projects. The Biplanes are a favorite of mine, and like your builds, and videos. I will look forward to your next project here, happy to see your flying again.

The location of the North magnetic pole shifted slightly while you were away. However the folks in here are so set in their ways that nothing much has changed since you took your sabbatical....
