hinge tape
I know this is a very basic question: how do you apply hinge tape? I was told flat across the top and then press it in the gap on the underside of the hinge. This seems like it wouldn't leave room for down deflection of the control surface. What am I missing? Thanks everyone!!!

RE: hinge tape
I always put mine flat across the top , then flip it over , bring it to the edge of the table and go with full deflection at 90degrees and aply the second tape.

It won't unless you bevel one or both of the surfaces.

RE: hinge tape
Heres how the combat foam wings we used to fly did it.
Place a thin shim (cereal box thickness) on the top of the TE. Place the aileron (beveled to the top) on the shim (as in rotated full up all the to laying on the wing) apply tape.
Rotate the aileron to full down apply tape.
One tape application may be enough for foamies.
