This thread inspired me. I was about to order the Jr falcon foamy from Tower and came across this thread while doing a search. I
printed the plans on saturday night and have the fuse almost finished. This is my first scratch build and I am using a razor saw,
and xacto knife for all my cutting.

Flyingagin, Thanks I have built some kits, assembled ARF's and lately I have been getting crashed planes and rebuilding. But
I always wanted to try a scratch build from plans. I downloaded PDF plans went to the hobbyshop and bought some balsa, and
started cutting. I was so excited today when the fuse took shape. I have always said that when I built a kit watching it
fly is such a great feeling, I can't wait to see my scratch build fly.

I am really going to upset skaliwag, mine is made from balsa but has a hacker electric motor, flat wing and ailerons
But the motor is round and it has 2 wings so i guess it's a real plane.

I do have a cloud ranger and little extra both with TT ,25's

Does it drag it tail down the runway and is it covered in rags?? http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ular_smile.gif
Now that is a real airplane

I will start a build thread tomorrow, i am out of work with a back injury so my planes are all I have to keep my sanity.
This one is being built for the back lot at my job. nice big grass field, i figured a nice little electric would be great to
get a luchtime flying fix.

Just to show it does exist here is a link to the foam falcon

Sorry for getting your thread offtrack rubbernecker.

Looks great, Rubbernecker! I guess we'll both be facing maidens soon.

As for skaliwag's comment on foam construction. Hmmm. I seem to recall some foam in the Scalpel project. But seriously, I agree that the Jr Falcon is just supposed to have wood construction.

Move along now ,,, nothing to see here in this link .. Just pure Smutt. Don't click ... it will infect you!

Yes the Scalpel's wings are made of foam. Genuine ACE . The Great Fred Reese did a whole series of planes with them, only the wings, the rest was ... Balsa. AND YOU HAD TO MAKE THE AIRPLANE.

I don`t want to hijack this thread, but I see a real resemblance here ,and so for all those who like them smaller looky at this:http://www.ebay.com/itm/300656707941...84.m1439.l2649
And then this one:http://static.rcgroups.net/forums/at...7-P1030796.jpg

Does anybody know or have a guess just how closelythese are built,as in are these basically diferent scaled variationsof 1 design?
I would just post the pics, but I couldn`t figure out how so we are stuck with the links, sorry.
I was thinking of buying the above kit as this thread got me really liking those classic lines I have always liked but for some reason never built
. I have always been wanting the smaller sizes (020 and 010),and these days they are more practical than ever.

Finally! Well, the weather here on the east coast was absolutely beautiful today. Low 80’s with a gentle breeze. Just perfect for the long awaited maiden on the Jr Falcon. I was not disappointed. First flight I was nervous, just as if it was a $1,000 plane. The engine was purring and it was time to launch. Climbed rather steep and had to go to high rates, but was able to tame it. After landing I put some more down thrust and shimmed the trailing and the next 9 flights were great. I was just like a kid in a candy store. :D Talk about reliving childhood except 38 years later has made me a much better pilot. I am truly pleased with how it flew and am looking forward to building a Jr Skylark soon. That will be electric. No video since I was by myself. Kinda hard to do while flying. I also took my 90 size Funtana to fly first and calm my nerves. Only flew it twice. I will try to get some video or at least pictures. Not sure how to upload video.

Woohoo! Congratulations, Rubbernecker! Glad she flew well for you. I love to fly newly built models. Very fun to see something you built take flight.

Looks like the cat may have been run over.

But, a little surgery and it'll be good as new. Great price, though.

Wagon1 09-08-2013 04:34 PM

Sweet! She looks fixable....but that orange is gross....keep us in the loop!

fritzke 09-08-2013 05:47 PM

I have repaired worse, much worse!
The wing is not built from kit parts, but the rest is.
I have a mold to make a canopy, and the original decals and plans were
in the box, so good to go.
The whole thing was covered in that lovely orange film, PIA to get it all off
but I am going to cover it with silk using my Dads "system".

Wow --- modeling is a small world. I've watched that video several times and never made the connection.
