1/2a warbird pylon racing

Anyone in the East Texas area interested in 1/2a warbird pylon racing should check this out!

We are using the Ace Simple Series Warbirds and Norvel .061 engines (no throttle). Go fast turn left and have fun!

Sounds like a sensible class.

Stick to your guns with the Norvel engine. If you don't, guys will start showing up with ultra-expensive .061's you never heard of.

Can't wait to see some video clips of your races.

The no throttle rule is another good thing. Carbs are hard to legislate and history of other classes have shown no carb is the way to go.

Good luck.

I think thats the largest collection of Simple Series planes I've seen so far. They all look great. From what I hear the Me-109 is faster...due to the low canopy and short tail fin I guess.
If I were about 400 miles closer I would be happy to join in the fun.

For a slower and more relaxed class, the Cub with Norvel .049 C/L (rudder, elevator) would be a blast too. :)

I started a Simple Series thread on the Ace website and would love for you guys to share pictures and information on your warbirds.
I can let you know how to post pictures if needed. You can't upload directly from your computer. :)

You can find the Ace Simple Series planes at www.quantummodels.com
then look under Mfg- then Ace

They also sell engines for them. I would say the biggest bang for the buck is the .061 Norvel BigMig anything smaller will be underpowered. There is also an .074 which has the power of a .10
AP .061s are good engines but less powerful than the Norvels.
One thing to note about Norvel engines, they have alum pistons and sleeve and break in differently than conventional ABC engines. The APs are ABC const.
The Simple Series planes are very quick building.
