TT07 on an e-starter?
 

hi all,

i'm an electric flyer and i want to go glow. no experience in glow whatsoever.

i have a GWS e-starter which i hope to convert to glow. unfortunately, the smallest engine available here is a thunder tiger GP .074. (i'm in the philippines)

please note that we only use castor oil and methanol here. nitro is too expensive.

QUESTIONS:

is it too much power for my plane? even at low throttle? i don't plan on doing verticals or any 3d on it.

is there a prop size i could use so i have more thrust instead of high speed? i want to maintain the plane's "parkflyer flight characteristics"

I don't think you will have to worry about the TT making too much power, I run mine on 25% and its not a Norvel. It is kinda heavy too. On the plus side mine idles very well and its really quiet. I have been using an APC 7x3 with great results on a texaco type model.

what did you mean by 25%? throttle or nitro content?

also, what did you mean by "it's not a norvel"? is your engine a TT07 also?

sorry to bombard you with stupid questions. don't much about the glow jargons

He runs his TT07 on 25% nitro and it does well ,,the Norvel .074 is a MUCH more powerful engine and lighter too,and probably louder,, it is said to have the power of a .10 size engine,,where as the TT07 is a good reliable engine with a good idle but not as much power..nitro is very common here and we tend to experiment for the best %,the higher the nitro the better up to about %35 then you start wearing things out faster than normal, mostly we run between %20-30 nitro in the small engines and about %10 in the larger .40 size engines..Rog

I have run my TT07 on 5% nitro with no problems. I haven't tried straight fuel, but it will probably work okay.

I usually use a 7*3 prop, which seems to be about the best all round size for these engines. If it's too much power for your plane, then throttle back. TT07s throttle really well.
