1/2A Conversion Help
I have aquired a Graupner BO 209 Monsun, the previous motor within the unit was an eflight 1360KV Outrunner 18amp Jetti speed controller 3 cell lithium polimer bat 2100ma with a 10x7 apc slow fly prop. It flew well aside from the motor burning up. I am interested in converted this into nitro, the plane weighs 13oz covered with 3 servos and 1oz gas tank. The wing span is 36.50, center of wing 7, wing tip 5.25 this includes cal, canopy, landing gear and wheels. Previously from my gilows kit days I have a cox .09 I adapted a carborator to it with an 8x4 JZ propeler (wood propeler). Will this be sufficient in flying this model or does anyone have any sugestions? (Motor and propeler combonation) All suggestions and ideas apprecieated!
PS In reference to the electric version when it flew well it flew like a bat out of hell! :D Thank You Kirk Eriksen |
RE: 1/2A Conversion Help
Kirk, an .09 may be too much structurally. Any .049 will be a good performer on 13oz AUW. Something like a Norvel .061 would be outstanding.

RE: 1/2A Conversion Help
Not familiar with the plane but at that weight I'd go with Ptulmer on the .061 and a 6 x 3 prop for it...Rog

RE: 1/2A Conversion Help
Even with a .061 or .074 I'd look at the Firewall to Fuze strength, it may need some steroiding... just a guess
