Finally finished Herr Cloud Ranger

1 Attachment(s)
I finally finished a Cloud Ranger I started a couple of years ago. It took two days to build and two years to cover. It weighs 24 ozs and flies great with HS-55 servos and an O.S. .10FP.

Hobby Lobby has the Micro Telemaster on special for $19.99 and the Mini T for about $35 at present. I have two of the micro and one of the mini on order.

I bet it flies as well as it looks. I have been trying to think what to do with both my OS.10s.

Gorgeous!

24 ozs in 24 months, you might not have a very bright future at one of those Chinese ARF factories........;)

LOL, Thanks!    I thought about that when I was covering it and whenever I work on these things.  I don't like covering, it seems like it takes so long to do little work.   I don't see how they turn out such nice planes at the volume they do and I'm glad I don't have to do it all day long for a living.

The Cloud Ranger is a nice kit as others have said on here.   This is the first plane I've built completely start to finish by myself.  It makes a big difference when you build it and I don't fly it as hard as I do the others.

Mr Flyby.. so you don't fly it so hard ehh .. Could this be because you have emotional attachment to it?
You made it with your hands and eyes and mind. Not your wallet

Exactly.   I've gone through alot of airplanes, but I'll probably hang this one from the ceiling and fly it every once in a while, hopefully hand it down to the kids or grandkids someday.   Same thing if I build a Scoundrel someday, that's a nice looking plane!

I agree, how can you be proud of something that you just bought off the rack? I go back prior to the BOM (builder of model) debate. It was assumed at one time that you were demonstrating your skill at building AND flying. It was a minor scandal at the time when word leaked out that some of the big names (with big $$$$) were actually hiring someone else to build there planes for them! Of course this before ARFs.

Wow, this is outa left field!!Big Al..I have built from stick to ARF even my own plans....when I can buy an ARF of a plane I want,, and a kit and 2 rolls of covering cost more than it does, I get the ARF...I still like to build for fun, sometimes, still have my skydrill on the building board, I really hate covering or it would be done, but there's someone else out there that loves to cover but hates to build, just opposite of me...then once I do get finished I hate the tedious fitting of the servo's and radio gear and balance and all that...I think the 1/2a group as a whole benefits from the lecky group and its new found arf parkflyers that we can stick an .049 on and go!..I always did admire that tiny mustang of yours,,but I sure jumped on the bandwagon to get a few of the Herr Extra arf's,, crashed one, one is waiting to fly(OS .15) flys fine just no time at present or good weather..... and the other is still in the box....Rog
