Hobby Lobby 1/2A Shoestring

Does anyone remember the Hobby Lobby 1/2A Shoestring from the early 80's (Ithink)? Did anyone build it? What kind of experinece did you have with it.

Iran across that kit today but do not remember seeing much if anything about it even after Hobby Lobby sold them in the early 80's. It has a plastic body and wings and tail that look like very light covered foam or the sign board material used in building the popular SPADseries today.

How were they too build? How did they fly? How did they hold up? What building precautions were needed? Does anyone even rememeber them?

Thank you.
Jim

I am not sure I can do it justice but there was a for sale post on RCGroups at
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...bby+shoestring

which had a good picture. The thread is closed but there is a picture of the box full of parts. Mine is Red where the one in that thread was yellow.

I will post what pictures I have of the box and sheets that came with it but not sure how clear they are.

Mooney_driver,

I know this thread is a few years old now, but is there any chance you could post some larger, more detailed pics of the two instruction pages? I can enlarge the first two (intro and revision sheet) large enough to read, but the last two I can not make out any of the words. I recently aquired one of these kits at a swap meet, however it was missing the instructions.
Your help would be very much appreciated.

Jeff

I have heard or read that they really fly nice and fast.

Hello Jeff.

Yes, I think I can do that. Give me a couple of days to dig it out and take the pix. I still have to put that thing together. I remember starting it by starting to trim the fuselage and then was not sure I was doing it right so put it back in the box. That was the early 80's...I think. Anyway give me a couple days.

Mooney_driver,
Thanks, that would be a huge help. There is no rush, whenever you get to it will be fine. I'm in the USAF and in the process of moving to a new base, so it will be Apr or May before I get a chance to work on it.
Thanks again and you'll have to let me know how your build goes.
Jeff

The main instruction sheet is on a legal size 8.5x14" page duplexed. The print is so tiny as to be very hard to read. I took pictures of the pages and tried to blow them up to 21x35 but not sure RCU will permit files that size. I will try. Even at that size they are very hard to read as resolutions has suffered.

Yep, way too large to upload. I will have to find some web page to put it on and link to it I guess.
