Here we go, Fritz Dezings gives (19000) now 38000 Rivets and 2000 Dzus fasteners away for the interested modeler.
The will be split up in a group of (10) 20. That means each shipments contains a sheet of 1900 rivets – 24 inch wide – and one strip of 100 Dzus fasteners.
I ask the recipients to post here their experience good or bad.
The process to simulate rivets with an soldering iron takes a long time and the results are so-so.
Flush rivets on full scale airplanes are not totally flush. There is still material on top of the aircraft skin. To simulate that, these vinyl rivets are a good choice.
How it works,
Pic 1, this a sheet of 1900 rivets and the 100 Dzus fasteners without the application tape.
Pic 2, primer applied on the surface – like you would do regularly.
Pic 3, Panel lines applied to chart tape.
Pic 4, cut your rivets from the sheet using a scissor or a exacto knife.
Pic 5, the adhesive of the vinyl and application tape is pressure activated. To part the vinyl nicely from the backing sheet run a credit card or a squeegee (I use a short ruler) over the strip.
Pic 6, the parting of the backing sheet and application tape with the rivets attached.
Pic 7, application tape down.
Pic 8, now you need to do the same like in Pic 5. You can use also your fingers.
Pic 9, pealing away the application tape. The application tape don’t leave any residue on the surface.
Pic 10, same method with the Dzus fasteners.
