RE: Rusty DRIFTING?
Icedude What RC drifting is for most guys is to try and get their RC cars to drift and look like a real car. This is why the CS (counter steer) mods are getting very popular nowadays (make the car drift and look like a rwd does in real life).
Here is what wikipedia has to say:
Drifting refers to a driving technique and to a motorsport where the driver intentionally over steers, causing loss of traction in the rear wheels through turns, while maintaining vehicle control and a high exit speed. A car is drifting when the rear slip angle is greater than the front slip angle prior to the corner apex, and the front wheels are pointing in the opposite direction to the turn (e.g. car is turning left, wheels are pointed right or vice versa), and the driver is controlling these factors.
That is the tru definition of drifting. If you don't need a hard opposite lock to slide through a turn, you're power sliding; if you need it, you're drifting.. These are definitions for real life and I dont see why they would change for RC. If you watch rally cars race, you will see that they are awd (most) and slide around corners will all tires loosing traction, this is a controlled power-slide. Your next question I assume would be "why does my Sprint say DRIFT on the box?", well who would buy the car if it said "Sprint Powerslider"... lol
Im not trying to start an argument or anything. Im not trying to change what you believe.. I have no problem with what you believe but this is just what I go by.. Feel free to disagree but this is what most guys go by.
