I use 1'' PVC with the foam insulation on it. You can get a lot of PVC pipe and fittings for $40.00. It is made to store a lot heavier things then planes so it should last for a long time.

I have to agree with blvdbuzzard. Pvc pipe and foam insulation can be made into ingenius airplane supports/hangars. And when the airplane inventory changes, they make great spare parts for sprinkler system repairs.
