RE: ATTN Z STUKA BUILDERS
John,
In case you don't find a better mouse trap I will share with you my simplified way to do it in balsa. I glued a balsa stick down as much of the wing as it would readily bend to fit. Then took some sheet stock the same thickness as the stick and traced the remainder of the airfoil onto the sheet with a rib as a guide. I cut the sheet on the rib line and used this to make a nice fitting cuff for the sharp contour of the wing.
Once all this was glued to the wing I took a hardwood block, drilled it out to the radius I wanted for the balsa, sliced it on a saw to leave a half moon groove in my block. Then glued sand paper to the inside of the groove and used this custom sanding block to radius the balsa after it was attached to the wing.
Pictures would be worth a thousand words if I had any, sorry. This is quick, easy and perfect if you can follow what I am trying to express.
