Default STS .28 info?

So whats up with the STS .28 and .30? I have seen them make great power stock in video's, but what is the problem with them? I know they are somewhat cheaply manufactured, but seems i heard that the crank pin tends to break off and that they are somewhat finicky about the pipe you run?

I would consider one for the price if I was sure it would last a little while. Id like to try one on my pulling truck, but like i said, may not be worth it if the crank pin breaks after a gallon. Anyone have any solid info on them? How do the .28 and .30 compare? Not really seriously considering buying an engine right now, just wondering what the deal is with them. [8D]
