No, The units shown in this thread are used to provide an alternate location for attacheing the glow driver when starting the plane. They are used when a glow plug is concealed in a cowel, or is hard to reach, or when the user wants to stay farther from the prop.
The item you are talking about is called a glow driver. They connect to a battery and can be controlled by your radio to power the glow plug in flight. You will get various opinions on here regarding glow drivers. There are a lot of people that use them, and love them while others say they are unecessary if you know how to properly tune your engine. Me personally I can see both sides of the argument, but have never used a glow driver. I have however used the remote adapters on a couple of planes for ease of use as well as safety puropses and liked them very much.
