Same problem with the bone-bit sticking out. Local Doc said "Oh..my God...who did this to you??"
Turns out it was a Vet they fished out of the Balranald pub - and he wa'nt too pleased to be dragged out while the Horses were still running.
My GP used some kinda goo on the bone to chemically burn it back, and we used about 5 gals of Dettol until the thing heeled. It ain't perfect these days, but I've still got the finger, hey?
It's also my fret hand on a guitar, so you have to learn to improvise...
