Yes, some receivers can be ''shift selectable'' and there is at least one which automatically selects the shift. I do not recall the brand but it may have been Corona. However most are not. In most of the world, all receivers are positive shift including Hitec and Futaba which (in the USA) are negative shift receivers.
JR/Spektrum are the opposite of Hitec and Futaba.
Hitec and Futaba require you to go Negative, when setting Expo for a Soft Neutral. That is how I remember they are Negative Shift.

In 72Mhz, Hitec used to offer both Positive or Negative shift versions of their receivers and then they went to AutoShift.
