When the Sanyo Eneloops first hit the RC scene, apart from the low discharge, they were also used in Digital Cameras, because, they could deliver the current, unlike some of the earlier NiMh's that hit the market.
That's why I think we see many RC suppliers using the Eneloops for normal PSort RC.
Not sure on the BIG planes, everyone seem to be using all sorts of hi capacity lipos A123's etc, which I have no idea about, apart from I don't feel comfortable about charging/balancing Lips etc.
I guess, more research is required.
