Default depends

Depends on the amount of force that's going to be going thru the cable. On a 60 size airplne, I wouldn't worry too much.

I have a Stinger with a 3.2 gas engine on it. I had the loops directly thru an aluminum arm and was worried that the cable would start cutting thru the aluminum and possibly loosen up or cause some other problem. It's easy enough to mount a clevis or ball joint to the arm with an eyelet in it to run the cable thru.
