Wait till you see the prices of hobby stuff elsewhere.

I currently work in the US as a Brit on an exchange program and will return to England next year.

I've just bought a GP Revolver 70 here in the US from Tower for $180, with member discounts. Just checked the price in the UK......£230, so thats about $370. Thats just one example, but its similar for everything else.

Any you think yur government screws you for tax!
Most of us understood that just from watching rock stars move from the UK to the US as soon as they started making money. We have so many people here on RCU in other countries asking about stuff but if they ship it, buy the time they get it the price has doubled or tripled. Shipping prices seem to be the killer even more then the tax. Most of us understand the price difference, just don't keep up with the exchange rates.
