There is no secret to fiber glass they just want to make money off you in them doing it. I asked because the pictures of the inside of the boat the resin looked very glossy and that normally means to much resin was used. but your method sounds good. Try a lay up in wetting the mat on a piece of glass that way every time you pcik it up to put in the boat excess resin would stay behind. Thus making a lighter boat. Is the whole boat chop strand or do you use woven cloth also? what is the mat layer you are using?
