RE: VQ Yak 9
More pictures of the YAK 9 from other sources. Impressions so far. Excellent quality. No dramas at all in assembling the model so far. Wings look to be much the same shape and profile as the VQ Macchi 205 Veltro, ie not quite right for a scale YAK-9, however the ailerons are'nt full length trailing edge style as they are on the Macchi.
Installation of electric retracts is coming along fine. Currently on the look out for an OS .46AX up front. I'll set this model up the much same as my VQ Macchi 205 Veltro.
My Macchi also has an OS Max .46AX up front, installed inverted. No problems so far with reliability. About 10oz of lead needed up front to balance in the right location with this engine. Presumeably the YAK will need the same.
