Just my opinion, but the dummy engine is likely necessary for proper engine cooling. You need to have 2 or 3 times as much exit area as intake, so the engine, with a proper cutout in front of the cylinder provides this ratio. You have taken your time and built a nice plane, so please take a little more time and complete this last step.
