I am new to the hobby , but I think that the JR / Spektrum brandis abetter option for you , the Spekturm DX8 is an advanced transmitter with many features like telemetry , removable storage ( SD card ) , etc . and as said , the Spektrum brand ( receivers , etc ) is widely availabe for a wide range of applications from the micro models to scale ones and the cost is reasonable .
In general , I think that the Spektrum DX8 is a good choise .
