If you got all the paperwork that comes with the tank kit there is a test mode that IIRC runs through a self-check diagnostic process - the manual does specify when the lights flash up abnormal and that's when you should send the unit in. There are override switches on the MFU itself that allow you to activate special functions without using the radio.
