I Have a New Respect for Turbine Engines
We have all have become complacent about standing around a turbine engine while it is running in the pits. After seeing what happened to this turbine in Mt. Pleasant TX this weekend I have a new found respect for them. This particular failure happened in the air and the pilot was able to land it without incident. This could have very will happened in the pits. Turbine blades went thru the bypass and out the fuselage. There was a circle of exit holes around the entire fuselage caused by the blades.
What brand turbine or the size of the turbine is not important as this could happen to any and all turbines.
