Default RE: Newbe Guestion Setup Wind S 110

Hi,

Have You read the 72 page post of Wind S 110 here?
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_79..._1/key_/tm.htm

Any special reason not to use standard components recommended by Sebart except lower cost at HobbyKing?

Only thing I can comment on is Castle Creations ICE 100 ESC - I have that in my smaller Sebart Wind S 50E and it has worked fine so far (probably over 500 flights by now) but I use 6 cell LiPo (and get 70 amp at full throttle in air). Since ICE 100 can handle up to 8 cell LiPo and up to 100 amp continous I suppose it should be OK in most cases also with a Wind S 110.
What setting You may prefer in CC ICE 100 I can not say and it depend on electric motor choice also.
I use firmware 3.27 in my CC ICE 100 (I do not dare to use any newerversions since they had major bug in one of the newer versions).
I use the BEC in my CC ICE100 ESC to save little weight but in the larger planes like this Wind S 110 I would not use the BEC but instead use at least one LiFe or LiPo battery for receiver and servo power source and probably a PowerBox System DigiSwitch.

I have no experince about HobbyKing Zippy Compact LiPo (I have only tried their Turningy 6 cell 5000 mAh 30C in about 100 flights and so far it is OK, but I use otherwise DesirePower LiPo mostly).

A note about the Wind S 110 - there is a newer Sebart Mythos 125E (for 6 or 8 cell LiPo) just released in some countries (and soon released in Europe, later this month) so if you have not already bought the Wind S 110 maybeYou cancheck out the Mythos also.
But of course if you are on tight budget a Wind S 110 with HobbyKing motor etc will work fine also.
