Yes I did, however I don't even know if its necessary though because I only took out a small portion of the mounting rails and they are very thick to begin with. If I come down on the nose hard enough to break the wood, I will probably have bigger issues.

You did thicken/strengthen the mounting blocks as removing wood will weaken this area.
