RE: Dave Patrick super cub
My guess is that it is a rework of the H9 J3 1/4 scale Cub design. It would be a lot easier to make a different cowl and add flaps and new trim scheme than to try to copy the DP design. I have both the H9 J3 cub and a DP supercub. I tried to use the canopy from the cub to replace a damaged DP canopy, and it was not a good fit, although useable. The DP fuse is a bit wider and flatter across the cowl area, not arched like the H9 cub. Also, with the wider fuse, the H9 cub Landing gear is not a replacement for the DP cub. I have to hand it to the folks at H9, their platinum ARFS are approaching the quality of design and construction that Dave Patrick had ten years ago. The DP cub is still the best arf I ever assembled, including some from Aeroworks. My DP cub has an OS 160 twin, which is totally enclosed, (see some of my earlier posts way back in this thread). It flys like the H9 ad, which uses a Saito 180 twin. I would expect that this ARF would make a great airplane. Its probably as close as we will ever get to a reissued DP cub.
