The publishers of Model Airplane News have a few books, but I find they are rather pricey. RC Modeler magazine have a few as well. Just look in teh back of both magazines, and you'll see the ads for them..
Another 'cheap' way to gain experience, is to buy a Gullows kit, and build it. These are little 'rubber band powered' (Most!!) planes that teach stick building, show die cutting, and basic covering..
