My understanding was that the County Board of Supervisors closed the RC field due to a recommendation by Caltrans and they do have the power to re-open it. The Letter writing campaign is the suggestion from the BARKS guys, they are the guys in the trenches fighting this fight and they feel a snail mail letter campaign to the County Board of Supervisors is their best chance of reversing the decision.
A bunch of letters from concerned tax paying citizens is the best way to let them realize they are not Politically Correct. The best way to motivate a politician. Use the Address Above, tell them How much the field means to modelers, how wholesome we are and we are concerned citizens that vote in every election!
Best in The West is still on for now. But the Guys that do so much of the support (The BARKS Club) have lost their flying field.
