Interesting phenomenon which like the op says, may not have an answer. Every field I have flown at flys counter clockwise(left turn). At our field we fly cc and only if the wind is real bad do we take off in the other direction, but then turn around and fly CC again.
We do have lots of trees at the one end of the runway which makes landing harder.
