The Profi .049 Boomerang is sitting on the bench waiting for the fuel system and fuel cutoff mechanism.. got that figgered out, easy. I drilled a hole down vertically into the rear edge of the motor mount plate up close to the firewall. Into that is glued a small pin hinge, hinging fore and aft, with a piece of silicone tubing over the swinging end of the pin. The fuel line will exit the firewall to one side, run laterally through two eyes that center the tubing between the pin hinge and the firewall, then around to the NV. The pin hinge will have a pull wire extending out the exhaust outlet of the cowl. Pulling on this will cutoff fuel flow. I'll put a check valve on the other end of the bladder and fill from the same spot.
200 or a smoking crater?
So the next lekkie pylon conversion speed project is taking shape. The engine package is now complete with the box of goodies I got from Bill Hughes today.. including the Profi .15 pipe and pan, and bench prop. I've had the engine a couple of months but no pipes, now a nice shiny pipe to play with. Tiny stinger outlet ID, about .180" IIRC. The prop in the pic is a 3x6 flight prop. Time to make some noise on the test stand, I can't imagine how small I'll have to cut the bench prop. I will video!
The airframe choice is made, Avionik D06:
Perfect size, slick as snot on a doorknob, and it will be significantly lighter than tabled below with the IC package, so the wing loading will be stupid light. These things go like a bullet on 1kw and are stiff as a plank. If you do the arithmetic the average wing chord is about 4.2". This ought to be insane. Will of course take a while to do the morphing work and cowl, but I tried a few things on the Boomerang plug that worked okay but slowed me down from my already lethargic pace. So maybe this work will go more quickly.
