I've never had an aircraft where the manufacturer didn't specify a CG way farther forward than where I like it. They want it to be safe for you. So at times when it's close but a little behind where they state I just leave it and fly it and still end up moving it back. If the initial balance point is way behind their recommendation then I will move it forward for test flights. My checkmate started off 1/2" behind where they recommend and I think it's still nose heavy.
