I have used the Rimfire motors and they have been good. At least if something happens to it the company will be there to help you. The same goes for a good quality ESC. I have gone the cheap route for motors and esc's and in the long run it's not worth it ....in my opinion. Especially when you get into the large sized motors and ESC's.
For added security you can run a BEC (again the Castle BEC is one of the best) or simply run a LiFe battery pack strictly for the receiver. That way if something happens to the ESC you will still have control of the plane.
