When I was in the Air Force in the early '90's I knew a retired Colonel that had one of these new in the box, asked me did I want to buy it. I thought it was cool, but I looked in the box and thought "man I know how to build wooden airplanes!" so I passed, he also tried to sell me a HOB Focke Wulf, looking back now I should have bought them both. He had a really cool HOB P-39 that had retracts and a throttled td.051. He said he flew it in spain from the runway that way. In Mississippi all we had was a grass field, so he removed the landing gear and and the throttle servo to save weight. Couldn't take off of the grass, and he said that was all the throttle was good for, taxiing and landing, while in the air it had to fly at full throttle, so he said the throttle was more of a power on power off proposition because at anything less than full throttle the plane didn't fly well.
