As a target, estimate the total weight of the glider including everything that will be on it when it flies. Now look for a motor that will provide between 50 and 75 watts per pound of weight.

You probably want to look at an outrunner type brushless motor and brushless ESC. Plan to use lipo type batteries.

It might also be useful to know what the wing loading will be. you need the area of the wing in square feet. Divide the weight in pounds by the wing area in square feet to get wing loading.
