Dan, there may have been a reason the .80's response to leaning was soft. While changing the Davis exhaust for a TurboHeader I noticed that the compression was mushy. I flipped it a couple more times and heard hissing. It turned out that the copper spark plug gasket was mis-stamped and was thinner on one side than on the other. I replaced it with an aluminum gasket from a Taipan plug. No more leaky compression. Tomorrows run should be more enlightening. Do you think it would haul a 13.5x8? I am gonna try one and see.
My experience W/aluminum header flange gaskets was dismal. They would deform from the heat & blow out while copper would last & even enable re-use.
