I found some #6 x 3/4 which were ok in length and yes got the cowl fitted but the metal was so poor that they stripped out very easily.
Got 2 out ok but the others I had to cut out using the dremel and a burr bit. No damage thank goodness but I am now re-evaluating how I am going to mount this blasted cowl.
I'm resigned to the fact I will have screws on the outside.
Perhaps a 3/4 piece of hardwood epoxied in where the cowl mounting blocks would go but have it shaped on an angle like the mounting blocks.
Then a button top screw in from the outside into the wood.
Bah thought I was close.
