Default Not enough time in a day

Last soaring season I got two small scratches on the left side of the nose of my two place glider.

Out here in the west, soaring on the Sierra Nevada mountain range, we routinely get to 17,900'.

Even in the summer when it is over 100 degrees on the valley floor it can be below freezing temperature at that altitude.

Because the plexiglass canopy of this model sailplane is so large it has a huge coeffienct of expansion and contraction.

The canopy contracts enough in the cold to cause the leading edge of the canopy to be about 3/32 higher than the nose of the fuselage when it is cold.

I decided that since I had to repair the scratches and because it is so difficult to get the white paint to match, I would build up the nose on the fuselage to account for this raised leading edge of the canopy in cold conditions.

I also decided to add a little flair by using Rhodium Metallic paint which is normally used on Porsche cars.

I had to stop my current RC project while doing this. It took a few weekends. I love that paint color.
