The Optic 6 was in production for a long time and was a very good radio, but inevitably it was to be replaced by a new model.

General Motors discontinued the 3.8L V-6 but none of the replacements can equal it in midrange torque, fuel economy, reliability or service life expectancy.
Sometimes "new models" aren't designed for the benefit of the consumer.
