Foam wings are cool when done right.
I currently do built up wings (more age related than any other reason) and had considered doing a foam.balsa/glass/carbon version as you have pictured above. But at this point I am really thinking about doing molded skins with ribs and spars for my next project, as opposed to foam to get a bit more air into the build (if you know what I mean) and still keep the strength up.
One of the other reasons I am considering the molded skins in billeted molds is the outer portion of the wing goes from 3/8 of an inch thick to 1/4 thick at the tip in a span of seven inches using a 8% airfoil. There is nothing I can do internally is going to buy me much for strength so it going to have to be pure stressed skin construction there anyhow, still have to figure how to hang the ailerons off of that as well.
