Default Setting the Rates on the JR 11X (version 2) and XG11

This thread will demonstrate how the JR XG11 and 11X with version two software can be set up to have the rates controlled by a single switch. The programming is for the ACRO configuration.
 
The first order of business is to set up the rates and expos for all three axes using the normal rate switches. After that in the next post, a few additions will be made so that one rate switch controls the rates for all the axes. If you are familiar with setting the rates on the 11X, skip to the end of this post and just copy the rates from screen shots.
 
 
Start with a clean slate, that is use a model memory that has no programming. Either pick a blank memory or ERASE an existing one that you no longer use.
 
The 11X, using the normal rate switches has triple not dual rates on each of the three axes, in spite of the fact the rate menu and switches having a D/R designation. Since there are triple rates, the normal rate switches are three-position switches. Position 0 is where the switch lever is up or away from you. This position is abbreviated P0. Position 1 or P1 is where the switch lever is in the middle position. Position 2, P2, is where the lever is down or toward you.
 
Rates are set by using the D/R & EXP menu in the Function List

Select and open the D/R & EXP menu. Initially it will look like this.


 
On the top line is the menu title, D/R & EXP. The 1/4 means you are on the first of four pages. The second line with AILE > P0 (or P1 or P2) tells you two things. The "AILE" tells you that the page you are looking at is for the aileron axis. The P followed by a number indicates the position of the rate switch. If it reads AILE > P0, it would mean the aileron rate switch is currently in POSITION 0. Move the aileron rate switch through its positions and you値l see the message change.

Next, move the cursor around the page. You値l see that on certain items it will blacken. This means the item can be changed. If you move the cursor to AILE and press the roller selector, you will get a drop-down menu for the other two axes. Select an axis, say RUDD, and press the roller selector. You will then be in page 1 of the rudder rates.


 
On the first page of the D/R & EXP menu there are four sets of rates and expos, P0-P3, for each axis. On the second page, 2/4, there are four more sets (P4-P7). The normal rate switches can only use the first three sets. It can稚 use the P4-P7 sets. FM-AUTO and SW AUTO, two other ways of controlling rates, can use all the sets. Make sure you stay on page 1!
 
When using the normal rate switches, the P0 set will always specify the axis rate when the switch is in position 0. The P1 set will always specify the axis rate when the switch is in middle position. And the P2 set will be the rates when the switch is in position 2. You値l notice there are two rate number and two expo percentages for each set. On the JR transmitters, you can specify the rate and expo for the stick being on one side of neutral and different values when the stick is on the opposite side. If you leave the stick neutral, you can input the same rate and expo for both sides of the stick.
 
Now we値l set the rudder rate switch. In the low position the rate will be 45% with 25% expo. I知 going to assume you want the low rate to occur when the switch is in position 0. (There is nothing wrong with putting the high rate on position 0, but it will not look like the screens I致e posted below.) The middle rate is 60% with 30% expo. The high rate is 100% with 35% expo.
 
First be sure you are on page 1 of the menu. Next be certain you are on the RUDD page. If not, highlight the existing axis, press the selector bar and select the RUDD axis.
 
When you finish with the rudder rate, it should look like this.


 
Next enter the rates for the elevator. The low rate will be 55% with 20% expo. Middle rate is 75% with 25% expo. High rate is 100% with 35% expo. When you get done, it should look like this.


 
Enter the aileron rates. The low rate will be 65% with 20% expo. Middle rate is 80% with 25% expo. High rate is 100% with 35% expo. When you enter the aileron rates, it should look like this.


 
At this point the three rates for each of the three axes have been programmed into the transmitter and are accessible using the normal rate switches. It will take nine or fewer clicks of the selector to combine all these rates onto one rate switch. Before doing that, compare your rate screens to mine and let me know of any differences. If there is a problem in setting up one of these screens, please post it.
