Yes, you can. I don't know why you would want to. Water will just sit inside for long time without any drying assistance. I would spray the motor with motor spray/electrical contact cleaner to flush out any residue, and speed up water drying process. Don't forget to oil the bearings.
I always just use
motor spray to clean my motors.
