Default RE: Life of a Brushless Motor??

Windings in a Brushless motor are switched by the ESC not by mechanical commutator and brushes, so only the bearing can wear out.

If you overheat the motor to the point that the magnets on the shaft expand and hit the windings - then you got trouble - but MOST people aren't that dumb.

If you run the ESC too hot or at too high a voltage - you got problems - but MOST people aren't that dumb.

If you NEVER crash, then after 30,000 or 50,000 hours your bearings will wear out - but most people aren't that lucky.

SOME people crash and damage a brushless in one way or another before they wear out.

SOME gearboxes have design problems or no LUBRICANT. That can be a problem.

The right brushless is very worth while compared to something like an expendable
280, 300 or 400.

Happy Flying!
