thanks for all of the replies. I dremmeled out some of the wheel well added some wood spacers underneath the rails of the electric retracts and a wood spacer where the struts runs down the wheel well to get the correct lateral gap. It was a lot more work than it should have been and involved some trial and error but ultimately I got the desired result. I agree with Steve, if I have anymore problems I will do away with the plastics wells and upsize the wheels.
