Yeah that is a good thread to see it can be done. i'm not saying it can't be done it's just not plug and play. you will have to do some modding and maybe even make some of your own parts like brackets.
now on to power. with the addition of lights you will need to have a better battery than comes stock. after adding a better battery you may find your self burning up the motor and if the motor don't go bad the next problem may come from the gears. they are made of plastic and the heat from the motor using a better battery might melt the gears or the extra power from the battery might strip the gears.
with all that said if you want to do it go for it. i have done a few things to some toy grade rc's that turned out well and some that went bad. one caught on fire even.
if you do post up pic's. i'll help out any way i can i like to dive into things to change and modify them. so ask questions if you got them.
