Monokote Gun will soften epoxy. I have a thin piece of steel about .015" thick that I heat and can jamb into the dihedral brace that has allowed me to remove the brace. You will have to make a new brace.
Not sure why you aren't glue the firewall to the two side pieces present and then put triangle stock as reinforcement. The stand offs aren't really needed.
