To each their own. It’s about $112 difference in two REX12’s versus two REX3’s. That’s cheap insurance when flying turbines ... even if there is a chance that the antennas are better in my opinion its $112 well invested. There are numerous reports that REX12’s antennas offer better reception than REX3’s ... in most environments the REX3’s are just great ... in challenging 2.4GHz environments the REX12’s are reportedly superior. In the end everyone has to carefully consider the system and setup that they are confident in when they walk up to the flight line.
